About the Workshop:
This in-person class at Center for Book Arts is taught by instructor Maria Veronica San Martín. In this workshop for kids (aged 8-13) and parents, students will explore the concept and making of a double accordion book or Dos-i-Do structure inspired by materials, methods and perspectives that will be presented by the instructor and her 8 years old son in the bindery studio at Center for Book Arts.
The course will focus on how to construct a simple but 3-D book with basic materials, by using printmaking and bookbinding techniques. The instructor will demonstrate how to construct an accordion book from pieces of paper, and will teaching how to use rubbing and stencil techniques for printing the content of the book. Students may also use other art forms, such as drawing, painting, or collage.
By the end of this course, students will reflect on what they created, and will continue their content of the book on their own!
