INTRODUCTION:

Welcome to the Place & Fix Reinforcement Materials for Concrete Work course. This course only includes a challenge assessment designed to assess your knowledge and skills required to demonstrate competence in reviewing reinforcement placement tasks, checking specifications, applying safety and environmental requirements, selecting and checking equipment, preparing reinforcement materials, placing and fixing reinforcement and checking reinforcement readiness before concrete pour.

Placing and fixing reinforcement materials for concrete work involves interpreting tasks, schedules, plans, engineering drawings and specifications, confirming formwork readiness, preparing reinforcement stock and positioning reinforcement materials accurately before concrete placement. In real workplace practice, this skill area is important because reinforcement must be cut, bent, tied, supported, secured, protected and checked correctly to achieve the required location, coverage depth, clearance, spacing and overlap before concrete is poured.

The course assessment focuses on your ability to review and clarify reinforcement tasks; check specifications against legislation, regulations and codes; apply WHS requirements, safety plans, workplace policies, signage, barricade and PPE requirements; review environmental requirements; select and check plant, tools and equipment; check reinforcement stock for type, quality and quantity; acquire and safely locate materials; check formwork completion and conformity; cut, bend and tie reinforcement bars; cut reinforcement sheets and attach stiffening rods; locate bar chairs, spacers, ligatures, reinforcement materials and cast-in items according to drawings and specifications; place, fix, support, secure and protect reinforcement; and check location, ties, coverage depth, clearance, spacing and overlap before concrete pour.

By successfully completing this course assessment, you will have demonstrated that you can place and fix reinforcement materials for concrete work by interpreting task requirements, applying safety, environmental and specification controls, selecting and checking equipment, confirming reinforcement and formwork readiness, preparing reinforcement materials, positioning and securing reinforcement and cast-in items, and checking completed reinforcement work before concrete placement.

Not a Users Guide
Format: Paperback
Although many readers may find this book useful, it describes a particular approach to Powerpoint. It is not anything like a comprehensive users guide.

Just linear
Format: Paperback
I appreciate that it helps to organize the chaos of information, but I just used the template verbatim with my manager and it did not go very well. He said this linear approach does not work anymore with high-level corporate audiences. They want to cut right to the chase and start to dig into the deep details. This layout with simple images, even if you just pull away the map and anchor slides, makes the storytelling too much like a story, not giving enough credit to the speed at which certain audiences can and do process data on a slide. It was an interesting exercise and I still think this linear layout works in some cases. Just not if you are trying to communicate business case or other C-suite type of information.
