Every Sensory Handpan is hand-forged from stainless steel and tuned one pan at a time. No factory line, no shortcut. Even within the same scale, two pans will have a slightly different character. That's part of why I love this instrument.

If you've never played a handpan before, here's what makes it special. You don't need to know music. The 9 notes are tuned to the C# Minor scale, which means any combination you play sounds harmonious. You can sit down with it for the first time and create something beautiful in five minutes. That's the whole idea behind Sound Healing LAB. Simple instruments, real connection, no mastery required.

The sound

Strike it gently with your fingers and you get a soft, clear tone. Press a little harder and it fills the room. Each note sustains for a long time, blending into the next, leaving space where the previous note keeps ringing while you play the next one. That's the part that makes handpans work so well for meditation and sound baths. The sound carries you.

About the two soundholes

This is something this handpan does differently. Instead of one big hole at the bottom, the Sensory series has two on the underside. When you hold the pan on your lap, one points toward you, and the other faces outward. The result is a balanced volume for both the player and the listener. You're not the only one hearing it clearly, and your audience isn't straining to catch it either.

The two sound tubes

This is a fun feature to play with. The hang drum comes with two removable tubes that fit into the soundholes and change the timbre and volume volume. The medium tube goes next to the tuning engraving, on the side with the deeper notes. The small one goes opposite, on the side with the higher notes. Pop them in, listen to how the sound shifts, take them out, listen again. There are four combinations and they each have their own mood. Some players keep them in for meditation work and pull them out for performance. Try all four and see what feels right.

About 432 Hz tuning

I'll be honest with you about this part. There's a lot said about 432 Hz, that it heals, that it opens the heart, that it aligns you with the earth. I'm not going to make those claims for you. What I will say is that I've felt the difference between 432 Hz and the standard 440 Hz, and so have the people I work with in sound. 432 Hz feels softer, calmer, more grounded. Whether the science backs it up or the science is still catching up, it doesn't change what I experience when I play it. If you're using the pan for meditation, sound baths, or therapy work, this is the tuning I'd recommend.

One thing to know: a 432 Hz pan won't play in tune with most other classic instruments, think guitars, pianos, which are usually at 440 Hz. So if you want to jam with a guitarist or a pianist, this isn't the right pick. If you're playing alone, or alongside other 432 Hz tools like our crystal singing bowls or healing flutes, it fits perfectly.

Stainless steel, not nitrided

Most handpans on the market are made from nitrided steel, which is sensitive to moisture. Sweaty hands, humid rooms, leaving it in the car on a damp day can all affect it over time. Stainless doesn't have that problem. You can take it outside, play it on the beach, leave it in a hot car. It stays in tune and keeps its finish for years. It's the kind of instrument you keep, not replace.

Great Multi-Function Watch
Color: Gray/Digital/Gray
I absolutely love my Timex Ironman watches. I have had many over a very long period of time. Wonderful set of functions for the price. Very affordable. Easy to use. Lasts a long time. Very easy to read in standard lighting. I like the Indiglo when needed, but do not use it too often. Absolutely love the ability to set a repeat timer to remind me to do something at a fixed interval, or to keep me on task for a fixed period of time. Great to be able to set three independent alarms. Potential to capture a huge number of splits with the stopwatch. I purchased this watch to replace a similar model with a dead battery. I have replaced batteries in the past, but it is quicker and easier to buy a replacement watch. I am saving my old watches for that day in the future when the Ironman model may no longer be available. I expect this will be my watch of choice for the rest of my life.
