The Schutt Super Pro “Aqua Tech” STG Big Grill 2.0 belongs firmly in the second category.
Produced during the peak of football’s oversized “Big Grill” era, this authentic Schutt Super Pro STG configuration combines one of the most intimidating wire layouts ever created with one of the rarest factory specialty finishes Schutt ever offered: the original Aqua Tech hydro-dipped series.
Finished in an aggressive white-and-black tiger stripe hydrographic pattern, this facemask perfectly captures the unapologetically overbuilt style that defined defensive football aesthetics during the late 2000s and early 2010s.
This is NOT an aftermarket custom dip.
This facemask features an authentic factory Schutt Aqua Tech hydro-dipped finish, complete with original Schutt stamping, certification markings, and an April 2014 production date code stamped directly into the mask itself.
That authenticity matters.
Many collectors today have never even seen an original Aqua Tech facemask in person — especially not on a Super Pro STG Big Grill configuration. Most surviving examples disappeared years ago into private collections, team equipment rooms, or were simply destroyed through normal field use.
The STG Big Grill layout itself is legendary for its:
- Dense upper grill structure
- Aggressive oversized facial coverage
- Extended cage-like appearance
- Intimidating defensive-era styling

Collector Notes
The Aqua Tech series represented one of the most experimental periods in modern football equipment history — when manufacturers briefly explored hydro-dipped graphics, aggressive visual styling, and oversized facemask designs unlike anything produced today.
Very few original Aqua Tech masks survived in collectible condition, and even fewer appeared on premium oversized Super Pro configurations like the STG Big Grill.
Modern facemasks have largely shifted toward streamlined designs, making authentic oversized Big Grill-era pieces increasingly difficult to source. Specialty factory finishes like this are even rarer.
To our knowledge, this is one of the most visually unique Super Pro STG Big Grill masks we have ever acquired.
We currently have no plans to offer additional hydro-dipped facemasks in the future… but in this hobby, never say never.
