Mickey heard most of these stories directly from his grandparents as they all sat around a pot-bellied stove at their home on a large farm in northwestern Alabama.
Mickey, who holds degrees in Agriculture and Agricultural Education from the University of Georgia and Clemson University, has worked with the Georgia Cooperative Extension for the past 30 years. He has served as President of the National Association of County Agricultural Agents,a group that totals some 3,600 members.
He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hiking, hunting, fly fishing, mountain biking and canoeing.
