I fondly remember when "the grown-ups" listened to the music of the "gentle giant". "The grown-ups" had long hair. I wore short pants. In my memories, the "big face" of the giant stands out, but also the music, harsh yet fascinating, difficult yet evocative, grand yet essential.

But above all, from the ability to dare. To dare ask legends like Gary Green and Malcolm Mortimore for their opinion on the orchestral arrangement of some of Gentle Giant's most famous pieces and to hear them reply "we want to be there". To dare put together a musical event with a part dedicated to Gary, Malcolm and the music of Gentle Giant and achieve extraordinary success. To dare make the eyes of these seasoned musicians shine again, and to enhance their collaboration with those who approach their pieces with the grit and respect due to "giants".

The Prog men were already "beyond" even then: beyond schemes, beyond the wall of genres, beyond musical time or the rigidity of a classical structure. And far beyond the simple musical message. But that is history.

We too, in our small way, have dared. We dared to revisit them. On tiptoe and without "tricks". To revisit the strong emotions of an evening, in the presence of that temple of music that is the Municipal Theater of Atri, to offer a crumb, our high-resolution crumb, of the Prog world.

That music, and what surrounded it, accompanied it, followed it, I rediscovered it years later. Reproduced. Well, extraordinarily well, on the best hi-fi systems. And live, in some concerts that were not always up to par.

Today different words are used. And different means. But the spirit of the musicians, their understanding, communicating, going "beyond", offering daringly, has not changed. And if the musical intelligence of a "young" Conductor, like Toni Fidanza, serves a myth, something extraordinary can be born.
