Our 5kg Technique Plate is one of a kind. Extremely durable and appropriate for grassroots programs and high volumen training.
Our technique plates are manufactured under small batches of our BULLDOG green farmer rubber collection of natural rubber. These technique plates are made under the classic method of "vulcanization coating", which consist of rubber coating the iron cast hub-soul in order to create a durable and high performing bumper plate for high volume and professional training.
Most of the technique plates around the world are manufactured with HDPE, recycled plastic, and crumb rubber. These types of plates are less durable since they lack of a center sturdy mass that could protect the weight plate from drops. These plates are usually very loud and they tend to bend to the sides once they are loaded on the bar. With a bended barbell, the weightlifter compromises its posture and technique, which could end up injuring the lifter.
We understand that coaching and learning olympic weightlifting takes time. Lifters usually have to master the bar before incrementing fractional weights. However, once the lifter has dominated 25/30kg, they need to step up into the 5kg plates. Most 5kg changes plates have a 9.8 inches diameter, which provides a small diameter that increases the difficulty of learning the olympic movements from the ground ( snatch and clean & jerk). For this reason, we have created a 16.9"/430mm technique plate that provides a good enough barbell height so beginners can learn the olympic lifts. In addition, these rubber technique plates can be dropped and are ideally for high volume training gyms.
