As a naive teenager, I nearly overdosed on drugs at the California Jam concert in 1974 that accommodated over 300,000 people. Many of my closest friends from the L.A. days were not so lucky and have died prematurely from unnatural causes.

In 1976, I was nearly killed by serial killer Patrick Wayne Kearney, also known as the Trash Bag Murderer. He killed an estimated 32 to 43 people.

In 1978, I was shot ÒPoint blankÓ in the stomach with a .22 caliber derringer, but survived to write this book.
