This valuable text begins with the general theory of diffraction through the use of Fourier transforms. The author then applies the general results to various atomic structures including amorphous bodies, crystals, and imperfect crystals, whereby the elementary laws of x-ray diffraction from ideal structures follow as a special case. The presentation has been carefully developed to illustrate clearly the meaning of the general equations essential for the study of more complex cases.
Readers are assumed to be familiar with the elements of crystallography and x-ray diffraction, and the author has not discussed the problem of determining crystal structures. Rather the focus is on the great variety of imperfect crystals as well as amorphous bodies and liquids. The book should thus be especially useful solid-state physicists, materials scientists, chemists, and biologists with an interest in the scattering from defective structures. More generally, it will benefit all who require a thorough understanding of diffraction theory in order to interpret properly the information provided by modern x-ray diffraction instruments on line profiles, line intensities, diffuse scattering and other phenomena associated with disorder.

Getting There
Format: Kindle
The let’s take Stark’s company plot is getting old, but at least this time they’re showing that Tony Stark ‘s major asset is his intellect. Still leaning too much into the Stark is an alcoholic canon, which even the writers of that arc admit was a mistake that they hadn’t thought out fully; a mistake that sucked the fun out of Invincible Iron Man for decades until Robert Downey Jr portrayed the character on the big screen, and writers on the comic started to write Stark to resemble the character as originally written. I do not like the art design on Tony Stark on this run at all. The feeble Howard Hughes look doesn’t fit Tony Stark at all, but if the story gets better, I can live with it. The art will change with the next team anyway. Ackerman seems to at least like Tony Stark and he seems to understand him; two things that were definitely not the case with Cantwell. Issue one didn’t put me off, and I’m invested enough to continue and see where it goes. At this stage with many Marvel titles that’s saying a lot.

Good, angry, start
Format: Kindle
After working at a manufacturing plant, I definitely appreciated Stark looking out for his workers. I will say the hostile takeover storyline feels a little over done for Iron man. Hope there are twists to come.

Iron Man(2024) #1
Format: Kindle
Iron Man(2024) #1 was filled with action, but the storyline so far is filled with gaps. The artwork was ok. Hopefully the next issue will make the story more clear.

Awful
Format: Kindle
I only read the sample, but the writing was so bad and the dialogue so cringey that I couldn't go any further. Just seems to be another failed Iron Man series in a long line of failed series. At this point I can't even remember the last time we had a good Iron Man comic book.
