Unlike Burton's version, Alain Dani lou's new translation preserves the numbered verse divisions of the original and includes two essential commentaries: the Fayamangala commentary, written in Sanskrit by Yashodhara during the Middle Ages, and a modern Hindi commentary by Devadatta Shastri. Whereas Burton's Victorian reluctance to translate certain terms obscured our understanding of the philosophy and techniques of the Kama Sutra, Dani lou has preserved the full explicitness of the original, dealing with everything from the art of scratching to relations with the wives of others. This blanket is unbelievably soft and fluffy — one of the softest throws I’ve bought from Amazon. It feels very cozy and keeps you surprisingly warm without being overly heavy. Perfect for curling up on the couch or adding extra comfort to a bed.
My only small issue was the color. The “sage green” looked much more like a cream or very light neutral in person, so I’m not sure if I received the wrong color. I ended up keeping it anyway because the softness and quality were so good.
