The Jaypro SPA4-ALP-UG is a heavy-duty outdoor basketball system built around a 4-1/2 inch diameter straight steel post. This galvanized steel foundation provides the necessary stability to withstand aggressive play and harsh weather conditions. A key safety feature is the 48-inch offset, which creates a "Play Safe" area by extending the backboard four feet away from the pole. This distance significantly reduces the risk of player-to-post collisions during fast-paced layups or rebounds.
The system includes a 72-inch by 42-inch rectangular perforated aluminum backboard. The perforated design is particularly effective in high-wind areas, as it allows air to pass through the board, reducing strain on the mounting hardware and post. For added rigidity, the backboard is supported by two 1-5/16 inch diameter steel braces. Installation involves a deep 48-inch in-ground bury, ensuring the unit remains upright and secure. Notably, the design allows for height adjustments even after court resurfacing, providing flexibility for facility maintenance.
