Smith Nexus Mips® Snow Helmet

The Smith Nexus Mips® is a top-tier all-mountain ski and snowboard helmet that blends a hybrid shell, complete KOROYD® coverage, and Mips® brain protection into a lightweight, low-profile lid built for riders who lap the mountain from first chair to last.

Why the Nexus Mips® Is Your Everyday Charge Helmet

  • Hybrid shell construction: A durable hardshell exterior is paired with a lightweight in-mold lower shell, giving you season-after-season durability without the bulky, “bobblehead” feel.
  • Complete KOROYD® coverage: Fully vented KOROYD® runs throughout the helmet for lightweight, energy-absorbing impact protection that also breathes better than traditional foam alone.
  • Mips® Brain Protection System: An integrated low-friction Mips® layer is designed to reduce rotational forces from angled impacts, adding an extra level of protection when falls get weird.
  • Exoskeleton side impact zones: An external exoskeleton reinforces key side-impact areas, boosting protection where your head is most exposed.
  • BOA® 360 Fit System: A halo-style BOA® 360 fit system wraps your entire head; a twist of the dial micro-adjusts the fit evenly for a secure, custom feel over a beanie or on its own.
  • Dual regulator climate control: Front and rear sliders independently open and close 24 vents, so you can dump heat on hikes and spring days or seal things up for storm riding and cold lift rides.
  • AirEvac™ goggle integration: Smith’s AirEvac™ system actively pulls warm air from your goggles through the helmet vents to help keep your lenses clear when you’re charging.
  • Ionic+® antimicrobial liner: A plush, sweat-wicking liner with Ionic+® antimicrobial tech offers sweat-activated odor control and all-day comfort.
  • Fidlock® magnetic buckle: Snap the chin strap open or closed easily with one gloved hand—no pinched fingers or fiddly buckles.
  • Audio-ready ear pads: Removable, low-profile ear pads keep things warm and are compatible with Aleck® and other drop-in audio systems (sold separately).

Ideal For

The Nexus Mips® is made for committed skiers and snowboarders—intermediates who are leveling up fast and advanced riders who spend more days on snow than off. It’s a quiver-of-one helmet for all-mountain riding: steeps, trees, bowls, groomers, sidecountry laps, and everything in between.

How It Compares

Compared to simpler in-mold helmets, the Nexus Mips® ups the ante with full KOROYD® coverage, a hybrid shell, BOA® 360 fit, and exoskeleton side reinforcement for more robust protection and fine-tuned comfort. Versus ultra-minimal park lids, it brings serious tech and adjustability—24 vents, dual regulator climate control, and premium fit and safety features—while still feeling impressively light and low profile on your head.

Bottom Line: The Smith Nexus Mips® Snow Helmet is a high-end, all-mountain workhorse that combines hybrid construction, complete KOROYD®, Mips®, and fully adjustable fit and venting—perfect for riders who want maximum confidence and comfort every day they’re on snow.

8/10 Front Pocket Wallet
Color: Black (Front Pocket)
It's a pleasing solution for me. The slim, pocketed design fits well in my front pocket. It probably fits other pockets well too. It's not perfect. But, it's solving for an imperfect solution that Apple is takling with their phones. Tap to pay with phones and digital ID will change the market for wallets. The physical size of cards limits how readily you can access any one card. It takes a bit of extra dexterity to pinch or slide some of the cards out. Ideally you'd have 4 on the outside, with remaining cards tucked in the center pocket. I just need more than 1/4 inch of card face to slide one out readily.

Size
Color: Black (Bifold)
It’s not a thick wallet, which is what my husband likes. Makes sitting or driving for long periods with it in his back pocket better. Has everything larger wallets have. Will purchase it again.

Rugged wallet built to last (even if wallets themselves are becoming obsolete)
Color: Black (Trifold), Color: Black (Trifold)
This is a really well-made wallet. If you’re familiar with Carhartt products, the construction here is exactly what you’d expect: tough, practical, and clearly designed to take some abuse. The material is "700D nylon duck fabric", which feels thick and durable—more like a piece of work gear than a fashion accessory. In the photos you can see the tight stitching, heavy canvas-like texture, and reinforced seams, all of which suggest it should last for years. It feels like the kind of wallet that could live in a back pocket, get sat on, tossed around, and still keep going. Inside, the layout is simple and functional. The see-through mesh ID window is one of my favorite touches—it makes it easy to show an ID without removing it. The card slots are snug and the trifold layout keeps everything organized. There’s also a small zippered pocket, which you can see in the photos along the side. It’s not huge, but it can hold a few coins or maybe a couple of small keys. The wallet also includes RFID blocking, which is nice if you’re concerned about wireless card scanning. On the flip side, that also means you can’t just tap the wallet against a reader for contactless payments. You’ll need to take the card out first. Carhartt also advertises water resistance, which makes sense given the nylon construction. Realistically, most of us aren’t dunking our wallets in water, but it’s nice to know it could handle rain or the random spill (though come-on! How often does that happen with a wallet??) One interesting thing: wallets themselves are starting to feel a little outdated. I rarely carry one anymore, and most of my family uses phone wallets or digital payments. But if you’re someone who still likes having a physical wallet for cards, ID, and some cash, this is a solid one. It’s a simple, rugged, no-nonsense wallet that should last a long time - very much in line with the Carhartt reputation. If you’re still in the wallet camp, this is a dependable choice. Plus it makes a nice gift.
