The Qinquan is a 150ml Yixing teapot made from Jiang Po clay, a type of zisha (purple clay) prized for its fine grain and warm reddish-brown tone. The body features hand-carved bamboo motifs — bamboo in Chinese culture represents resilience, which suits a teapot you'll keep for years.

Product details

  • Capacity: 150ml
  • Clay type: Jiang Po (Yixing zisha)
  • Craftsmanship: Hand-thrown and hand-carved
  • Origin: Yixing, Jiangsu Province, China

At 150ml, this is sized for gongfu-style brewing — small, concentrated infusions where you steep the same leaves multiple times. Yixing clay is unglazed and porous, so over time it absorbs the flavour of whatever tea you brew in it. Most people dedicate one Yixing teapot to a single type of tea.

This works well for

  • Gongfu brewing of oolong tea or puerh tea
  • Tea drinkers ready to move beyond a mug and try traditional Chinese brewing
  • A long-term companion — Yixing teapots improve with use over months and years

Joanne's tip

When customers visit our Tea Bar and ask about Yixing teapots, I always say: pick your favourite tea first, then dedicate the pot to it. The Qinquan's 150ml size is a good starting point for gongfu brewing — it gives you about 3-4 small cups per infusion, and the Jiang Po clay handles roasted oolongs and aged puerh really well.

Seasoning your new Yixing teapot

Before first use, season the teapot to open up the clay's pores and remove any residual dust from production:

  1. Rinse the teapot with warm water — lid, spout, and body
  2. Submerge it in a pot of water (use a cloth underneath to prevent chipping) and simmer gently for 30-60 minutes
  3. While the teapot simmers, brew a strong batch of the tea you plan to use
  4. After boiling, let the teapot cool slightly, then fill it with the brewed tea and soak for at least 24 hours
  5. Rinse with warm water and air dry

After seasoning, simply rinse with hot water after each use. Never use soap — the unglazed clay absorbs detergent. Over time, you'll notice the surface develops a subtle sheen. That's the clay absorbing tea oils, and it's a sign the teapot is maturing.

Great lead alternative!
Color: Blue, Size: Large
This works great for an alternative to just a slip lead. I work in a kennel and it makes it a lot easier to grip for the dogs that pull a lot.

Won’t stay in place
Color: Blue, Size: Large
While the leash was nicely made, the lead would not stay in place. The slide to hold the “O” ring in place kept sliding there for the leash would loosen. The padded handle was nice for sure

The dogs loved it! Will buy again.
Style: Squeaky Chicken
My dogs have really enjoyed all the layers to this toy. It squeaks and has a noisy film on the inside of the cloth that they really like. The toy itself is very stiff and rigid but they like that. It’s been about 3 months and they recently broke through the pink layer so it lasts quite a while. It was a challenge for them to get the layer off once they had broken through the stitching so it would keep him occupied for a very long time.
