Down At Dawn present a reissue of Elmo Hope Trio's New Faces, New Sounds, originally released as a 10-inch on Blue Note in 1953. The album reissue includes an extra track on Side B. From the original liner notes: "What style of piano does Elmo Hope play? It would be easy to answer 'The same as Bud Powell,' but this would not do justice to a musician who, while coming along the same route as Bud for so many years, is now ploughing a separate path for himself, though in a similar general neighborhood. His original material, though it has the intense, rapt quality of Bud's, remains personal, whether it be the relatively serene approach of 'Happy Hour' or the minor Moroccan mood of 'Stars Over Marakech'. When you hear Elmo Hope, your first reaction will quite possibly be 'Well, where has he been all these years?' And the fact is that while Elmo was giving recitals at the age of 14 and even won medals during his teen-aged concertizing, he has never, until now, achieved much more than local recognition. If you will pardon the pun, this might be the time to say that there is new hope for Elmo."

Every cybersecurity professional should read this book, probably twice
Format: Audiobook
This is the Phoenix Project for cybersecurity professionals.
Every chapter of this book brought clarity and a new perspective from the way industry approaches aspects of cybersecurity. The book won’t be all things to everyone, nor is it perfect, but its the single most practical and effective approach to cybersecurity I’ve found. In a time where IT is excruciatingly complex and securing environments seems like an impossible task, this has been invaluable and has affected how I think about the future.
Im not associated with the author in any way. Im just in a leadership role facing these challenges every day and I think this book may some day become mandatory reading in the field.

Actionable and pragmatic
Format: Paperback
Rick Howard's Cybersecurity First Principles is an excellent read on numerous fronts. First, I love the historical references to our profession. Second, Rick provides actionable guidance on how to make our organizations and the security programs we build more resilient. The pragmatism of Rick's recommendations cannot be overstated. You'll need a couple of pens handy given how much of the book you are likely to underline as on-going references. This is a must-read book.

Great read. Well laid out.
Format: Paperback
You can tell Rick has years of experience in the field and this book is a great distillation and alignment of security to first principle thinking. Only thing better than the book IMO is the clear passion of the author. This is certainly a must read for any cybersecurity professional.

Cute book for babies!
Format: Board book
Bought this for my best friend’s daughter for her 1st birthday along with some other little beach items. Me and her both have many fond memories of our beach trips throughout the years together. We both have daughters 2 months apart and can not WAIT for all our future girls beach trips together! 🏖️ She absolutely loved this adorable little book for her little one!
