In a hexagonal grid, each nail has six neighboring nails positioned at exactly the same distance around it. This creates a uniform structure where the spacing remains consistent in every direction.

By comparison, square or diamond-shaped arrangements provide only four equally distant neighboring nails, while the remaining neighbors are located farther away.
