The Kerman weaving tradition stands among the most celebrated in Persian rug craftsmanship, known for its intricate knotting and richly detailed all-over floral compositions. This hand knotted New Zealand wool rug fully embodies that legacy with an ivory field densely filled with flowing botanical designs, roses, and scrolling leaf patterns in tones of rose, dusty blue, sage, and brown. Unlike medallion-centered layouts, this design covers the entire surface, creating a seamless visual flow highly valued in luxury Persian area rugs. With an impressive knot density of approximately 200 knots per square inch, the precision and clarity of each floral element are exceptional, offering a refined texture and sharp color transitions. The sage green border introduces a complementary floral arrangement in navy and rose, framing the rug with balance and depth. Crafted with premium wool on a cotton foundation, this high-end handmade rug is ideal for those seeking a sophisticated, detailed Persian rug for upscale living rooms and formal interiors in the U.S. market.- Exact Size: 4x6

Story Behind the Art: Renowned for their exceptional craftsmanship and intricate detailing, Kerman rugs trace their origins to the historic city of Kerman in southeastern Iran, a region celebrated for fine workshop weaving since the Safavid dynasty (1501–1732). These luxury oriental rugs are distinguished by their sophisticated compositions, often featuring a central medallion set within a richly decorated field and framed by elaborate floral or architectural borders. Traditional design variations include Shah Abbasi medallion-and-corner layouts, garden and vase patterns, tree of life motifs, hunting scenes, animal figures, as well as all-over boteh and floral arrangements. Among the most iconic styles is the vase or boteh pattern, where repeating vases or paisley-like boteh motifs are elegantly distributed across a backdrop of scrolling florals and palmettes. Kerman rugs are especially admired for their fine weave, graceful drawing, and remarkable color diversity, often incorporating 15 to 30 distinct hues within a single piece. The creation of each rug is a labor-intensive process that can take over a year to complete, making these handmade wool rugs highly valued in the U.S. luxury rug market for their artistry, durability, and timeless appeal.
