This Cartier Vermeil (gold on sterling silver) belt is comprised of textured circular discs in the brutalist style, designed circa 1970. The first image is for reference only, and the second image shows Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis wearing another example of this design as a belt while on holiday on Capri in 1969. Jackie’s belt sold at Sotheby’s in 1996 for $27,000. Can be worn slung low on the hips, or as a statement necklace. This piece has a disc removed for fit which can be put back in, and the gold layer has almost completely rubbed off leaving a more silver color and patina to the metal. Signed Cartier and STERLING on large element in drop. Approximately 273.5 dwts. Lengths 30 and 23 inches.
