Il cristallo di sale alimentare himalayano cambia di colorazione a seconda del punto di estrazione ma mantiene inalterata la sua struttura. In particolare, il colore Rosa del Sale dell'Himalaya dipende dall'elevata presenza del ferro in esso contenuto. È un sale alimentare puro e molto delicato con un sapore decisamente diverso dal comune sale alimentare da cucina: il sale rosa dell'Himalaya infatti è naturalmente povero di sodio caratteristica che gli permette di avere una salinità più morbida capace di dare sapore agli alimenti ma senza coprirne il gusto e le caratteristiche organolettiche originarie.
