Kumihimo is created by interlacing several to dozens of thread bundles. The beautiful three-dimensional structure creates deep shadows on the surface. Firmly woven by hand, the fabric has a unique tension. Using 100% silk threads dyed in thousands of colors, a variety of styles and patterns are expressed in a single thin string. The process is time-consuming and requires special skills and techniques, assembling it little by little.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Noriko YUKI, born and raised in Tokyo, graduated from Tokyo Zokei University with a degree in Fine Arts in Painting. She was deeply attracted by the beauty and techniques of the Peruvian Braiding in the Andes and started studying under master Kumihimo artist Etsuko Matsushita in 2003. Also discovering the art of Japanese traditional Kumihimo, Noriko started studying and working with Kumihimo.

ABOUT KUMIHIMO
Kumihimo are braided silk cords, a traditional art and craft that has been practiced in Japan for over fourteen hundred years. Historically, Kumihimo cords were used in aristocratic costumes, interior furnishings, decorations, musical instruments, and religious equipment for temples and shrines. In modern times, Kumihimo are crafted to make obijime, which are cords worn around the front of an obi and serve as an important decorative element and accessory for kimono.

Don’t use for automotive
Color: 40FT Wire+40FT Cable Sleeve
Don’t get me wrong it’s not a horrible product but these wires have an extreme amount of resistance to them, and once they get hot they drop voltage drastically. It was nice it came with a bunch of eyelets and made it easy to assemble but unfortunately once they were over 100F temp (live in Florida so cars get way hotter than that on the inside) the voltage would go from a normal 12.5-13.5v all the way down to 8v. Partially my fault I did not notice they were CCA wire instead description, would not recommend for automotive use.

Low quality. Recommend something from a better brand.
Low quality. Seemed fine until the first one I ordered one of the terminals broke off with very little tightening force. The replacement i had ordered worked for a few days then quit working altogether. Overall disappointed.
