This is an unusual presentation of these two works in one volume, with the preface of The Grasses of Britain (in fact, England, Wales and Ireland) bound before the sheets of the earlier work The Grasses of Scotland, but the rest of the later work being bound in sequentially afterwards. It is not difficult to find two volume sets of the two works together, but we have been able to find no other examples of this single volume edition.

Provenance: front pastedown with bookplate of Thomas Fowell Victor Buxton, 4th baronet (1865-1919), philanthropist, brewer and founder, in Kenya, of potato and dairy farms.
