Named for a bustling beach lined with shops, restaurants, and a vintage ice cream parlor on Galveston Island in Texas, the Strand incorporates a decadent lace pattern with a romantic feel, reminiscent of those early 20th century Victorian homes such as the Bishop's Palace on the island.
The shawl is a right triangle, with the lace pattern panel placed off center on the bottom edge. Pattern includes charts and the full written instructions. Use any yarn weight up to light worsted, just be sure to adjust your yarn requirements accordingly. This design should be blocked firmly (blocking wire on the bound off edge works exceptionally well.)

Light Fingering Weight
DESIGNER RECOMMENDED YARN: Socks Yeah! by CoopKnits (75% Merino Wool / 25% Nylon; 50g/231yds): 3 Skeins. Shown in Topaz.
ALTERNATE YARN: O-Wash Fingering by O-Wool (100% Washable Organic Merino Wool; 100g/428 yds): 2 Skeins. This yarn is spun and dyed in the United States from South American merino wool. O-Wash Fingering uses a new GOTS certified process that stabilizes the wool, allowing it to be easily washed while maintaining its woolen characteristics. O-Wash Fingering is also dyed in low impact, environmentally friendly dyes. Available in a wide array of solid colors.
ALTERNATE YARN: Sock by Malabrigo (100% Superwash Merino Wool; 100g/440yds): 2 Skeins. Malabrigo is kettle-dyed so that the yarn carries depth and variegation. Supersoft merino wool with the added bonus of superwash, easy care washing instructions, what more could you ask?
